Saybrook Capital majority partner selects Fellenstein and Was for retail lease negotiation
Westbrook--- April 1, 2004:
Glenn Morelli, Saybrook Capital majority partner announced today that he has signed an exclusive contract with New York based real estate retail firm Fellenstein and Was. Fellenstein and Was will assist Morelli in site selection and lease negotiations for his retail rollout locations. Morelli expects to launch his mall-based retail stores later this year.
"We selected Fellenstein and Was from an extensive list of other major players in the retail real estate consulting field. We believe their firm is well suited to help us find those locations that will help us move quickly toward our goal of becoming the leading mall-based retailer of music-influenced and entertainment-licensed apparel, accessories and gift items," added Morelli.
Marshall Fellenstein and Frank Was and their team have over 100 years of experience in retailing and real estate. Mr. Fellenstein has been a retailer and retail consultant for the past 35 years. A graduate of Yale University and Columbia Graduate School of Business, Marshall began his career at Gimbel Brothers executive training program. He joined Marwen Stores Corporation in 1966 where he advanced to the position of President and eventually became the principal stockholder. He was successful in selling the retail chain and began his consulting business in 1986. Mr. Was previously served as President and C.E.O. of the Perry Ellis Factory Store chain. Prior to his service with Perry Ellis, Mr. Was held a series of senior executive positions with The Gap, Sears Roebuck & Co., and Korvettes. A member of the Value Retail News Advisory Board, he is a frequent guest lecturer on outlet industry topics.
Each store will average about 2500 square feet and provide customers with a bright, energetic environment of stimulating music videos and experienced, customer-friendly staff. Stores will be stocked with an extensive line of merchandise inspired by music artists, celebrities, television and movies.
"We are thrilled to be working with Mr. Morelli and his group. While so many of the mall apparel stores seem to selling the same old merchandise, Mr. Morelli's stores will bring a new level of excitement to the malls. This type of rollout is much different then the others. He already has a distribution center in place which will be leveraged and enhanced by a chain of retail stores," added Fellenstein.
